Scentwork Skills Session
Focused, structured scentwork training to develop specific dog and handler skills.
Service Description
Scentwork Skills Sessions are for dogs and handlers with previous scentwork experience who want to develop particular aspects of their training in more detail. These sessions are more structured and technically focused than our regular Scentwork Club. Rather than concentrating on complete searches, we break the work down into individual skills and exercises, exploring everything from strengthening foundations to more advanced search and handling techniques. Sessions may focus on search strategy and coverage, odour discrimination, indications, independence, handling, problem-solving or preparation for assessments and competition. Each session will have a particular training focus, with exercises designed to develop understanding, improve technique and explore the reasoning behind what we’re doing. You don’t need to have trained with us previously, but you and your dog need to have previous scentwork experience working a target odour. These sessions are suitable for anyone who wants to develop their scentwork further, whether for enjoyment, technical development or competition. Dogs work individually and rest securely in vehicles between turns. Session locations: Sessions listed as Aberdeen are held in and around Aberdeen city. Sessions listed as Inverurie are held in Inverurie and the surrounding area, generally within approximately 30 minutes of Inverurie. The exact meeting point will be confirmed the day before your session.
